It's MY Day..."Magnificent You!"

I love traditions!
I believe they're the one thing that really keeps a family together.
Knowing that no matter how busy life gets, or where everyone's at, there are certain times of the year that we can always count on being together.
There's the obvious ones of course
....Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving.....
but there's also others that we can look forward to each month.
Though they may be "smaller" they can have just as much meaning.
Each tradition has it's own purpose.
The one I want to share with you today will be different for each one of us,
because we're each very unique individuals
with very different needs and interests.
I'm talking about "MY" Day.
For me, it happens to fall on the 24th of each month....my birth date.
Yours will be on the day that you were born.
With the busy lives that we all lead and all the different hats we wear each day....cook, maid, chauffeur, teacher, domestic engineer, interior decorator, (just to name a few).....it can be very easy to let ourselves become lost in the shuffle.
YOU matter.
....YOU keep the family going.....
and it's important to remember that.
Out of the 365 days of the year that you're serving everyone else, it only makes sense that you can take 12 of those days....once a month....and focus on something that truly makes YOU happy.
It can be anything
that creates that little spark in you....
that makes you feel alive and worthwhile,
because you are.

What's something that you love to do
but haven't for awhile?

"MY" Day is the day to do it!

  • Go see a movie you've been wanting to see
  • Buy a book you've been wanting to read....or check one out at the library - curl up with your favorite blanket & a hot drink and catch up on some reading
  • Relax in a bubble bath with candles and you're favorite music
  • Get a manicure or pedicure....beauty schools are a great place to get them for a good price - or you can do them yourself
  • Buy your favorite candy bar
  • Get a facial - beauty schools are great for this too, or you can give yourself one
  • Work on a craft you've been putting off
  • Arrange some flowers, light some candles and have your favorite meal for dinner....just because you're YOU
  • Dress to the hilt....even if you're not going anywhere.  Wear your favorite perfume, jewelry, etc....the things that make you feel special....because YOU ARE
  • Buy that make-up you've been wanting to get....or go to one of the make-up counters in the mall that offer FREE make-overs
The day is YOURS....the possibilities are endless!
What will YOU do on YOUR day?

"Sensational" Saturday!

Today it felt like Christmas here in Utah! It SNOWED!! It has't snowed here much all winter and I think a part of me has missed it! I am not normally that excited about snow but today was different! I was in a mood to get things done! I spent the first half of my day doing some "sensational" cleaning and putting away a massive pile of laundry! Anyone else hate laundry as much as I do?! After my little girl woke up from her nap I decided that it was time to spend the rest of my day with her, since that's what "Sensational Saturday" is all about! Spending that time with your family that you probably don't get to do much of during the week! Unfortunately my husband had to work today, but us girls still had fun!
We started out our night with a picnic dinner!

My little girl loved it! She ran around yelling, "We having a picnic! We having a picnic!".
After our picnic dinner we spent about an hour playing "Bingo"!

Bingo has always been one of my favorite games.
I bought this set that we used tonight at the local Dollar Tree store, about a year ago.

I hung onto it, because I knew someday Jayda would be able to play...and tonight we played!!! Over & over & over again! The picture Bingo was perfect for her age because it helped build her vocabulary and she loves playing matching games, so she really loved pulling the cards out and "finding my match"!

If you don't have a Bingo game around your house it would be super easy to make one from clipart images or even better click here and you can print off your own for FREE!!!

After Bingo we popped some popcorn and let Jayda pick a movie. She too must have felt that Christmas feeling from the snow falling outside because she chose to watch "How The Grinch Stole Christmas"!
Too funny!!! We enjoyed our popcorn and cuddling together!

Today truly was a "Sensational Saturday"!
I love the one on one time I get to spend with her and the memories we made tonight!

I hope you will find time next Saturday, or throughout the week, to make "sensational" memories with your family! Whether that be something as simple as playing a game of Bingo, or going out and trying one of the FREE activities listed on our blog!

One of my favorite quotes is:
"We do not remember days...
we remember moments."

How true that is!

What was YOUR favorite moment today?

Ready for some Fun?!

Welcome to our little corner of the blog world!
We're just a couple of fun-lovin' Moms who think that every day deserves to have a little bit of fun thrown in the mix...
especially when it's FREE!
We started Free Family Fun on facebook, when we realized
just how many FREE activities we were missing out on!
We wanted to share what we had found with other families that love doing things together....
but without breaking the bank!
Most of the activities we've found so far are in Utah....
since that's where we live.
BUT, our goal is to create a place where families from all over can find/share activities in their area too.  So, if you know of any really cool things going on where you live, please tell us about them!  In addition to all of the activities you'll find here, we'll also be sharing some of our favorite things that keep the family going ....you know, the fun stuff....
like cooking, cleaning, crafting, service, etc!
(Yes, we'll show you how we make even the most mundane tasks seem a little more bearable!) Every day we'll have a different theme that you can follow along with...

Which of your friends would enjoy doing FREE activities with their family?  Be sure to "share" this with them too!
