FREE in Utah!

  • Swaner Preserve and Eco-Center in Park City has all kinds of FREE interactive exhibits!  There are also miles of trails if you feel like doing a little hiking.
  • Utah Olympic Park in Park City lets you do self guided tours for FREE!  They also offer FREE admission to the museums that are there too....Alf Engen Ski Museum and George Eccles 2002 Winter Olympic Games Museum.  The museums have  interactive touch screen displays, videos, virtual reality ski theater, games and topographical maps.  Lots of FREE fun for the little skiers in your life!  
  • Utah State Fire Fighters Museum is a great place to take your "future fireman!"  (SR 112 at Deseret Peak Complex in Tooele)  They have over 50 fire engines from different eras and locations throughout the state. The oldest dates back to 1914!   They give guided tours by appointment only.
  • Ensign Peak in SLC is a great place to take a sunset hike!
  • BYU Museum of Paleontology....just a fancy way of saying "take your kids to see the dinosaurs!"  This museum houses one of the top five collections from the Jurassic Period in the world....and it's FREE!
  • Sweet Candy Company in SLC offers FREE tours of the candy factory!  Watch them make taffy, chocolates, etc....and of course they have FREE samples too!  Tours are Monday-Thursday by reservation.
  • Cascade Springs is a great place to take the whole family!  There's shallow cascading pools of water that are so clear, you can see the fish in some of them.  There's little bridges you can walk over as you explore.  It's located off Hwy 92....the Sundance turnoff, if you're going up Provo Canyon.  You can also get there from the Alpine Loop, if you're going up American Fork Canyon.
  • Rock Canyon in Provo is great for sledding in the winter and hiking in the summer!   (1450 E 2320 N in Provo)
  • Donut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon is a 1.5 mile hike....great for the whole family!  Take some snacks and have a picnic too. 
  • Gardner Village in West Jordan is a fun place to stroll around for an afternoon!  (Take a camera, because there's always great photo-ops there!)  Feed the ducks in the Summer, see the Witches in the Fall and the Elves in the Winter!  Be sure to visit the Old Fashioned Candy Shop for a FREE sample of their fudge!
  • Temple Square in SLC has FREE concerts, museums, movies, etc.!
  • The Hill Aerospace Museum in Roy is a great place to take the kids....especially if they love airplanes!  They have an area specifically for children and there's even a flight simulator!  FREE admission.
  • The Church History Museum in SLC has all kinds of art and history exhibits.  There's even a children's room with interactive pioneer items, games, coloring activities, a play house, puzzles and lots more!  FREE admission.
  • The Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum has FREE live animal shows, as well as all kinds of animal exhibits.  You can print off a scavenger hunt form for your kids to do while you're there too!  It's located on the BYU Campus in Provo.
  • Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon is a fun place to spend the afternoon.  Vivian park is nearby with picnic tables, a paved path for biking or roller-blading and of course lots of hiking!
  • Take the kids to Wheeler Historic Farm  for a fun afternoon!  You can walk around and see the farm animals, have a picnic and even feed the ducks.  Admission is FREE!  They're located at 6351 S. 900 E. in SLC.
  • The Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City has a variety of FREE exhibits to see! Enjoy an afternoon with the kids as they learn about the International Space Station, Mars, Meteorites and lots of other cool stuff! It's located at 110 S. 400 W. in SLC. They're open Sunday - Thursday: 10:30 am - 10:00 pm and Friday - Saturday: 10:30 am - 11:00 pm.....365 days of the year!
