"Service" Sunday!

As we thought about service today, we realized there are so many small things we do every day, that are a real service to our families.  Take the dishes for example....if we didn't wash them, the kids would probably be drinking from the faucet, eating with their fingers, and heaven only knows what they'd come up with to put their food on!  But instead, we spend a little bit of time....with our hands in hot, soapy water....so that we can enjoy a few minutes of time together at the dinner table....with clean dishes!

Dinner may only last a few minutes, but those minutes make up the memories that they'll carry with them....time together at the end of a busy day, talking, laughing and enjoying one another's company....before the food gets inhaled and they're off and running again!  Every moment counts.  If you stop to think about all of the service you really do for your family each day, the list is endless....making beds, combing hair, cooking meals, doing laundry, helping with homework, putting away toys, reading them a story, driving them to their friends house....every little thing, no matter how small or mundane it may seem to you, means everything to them.  If you stopped doing even just one of those things, it would have a big impact on their day....hungry tummies, dirty clothes, poor grades, just to name a few.  Service doesn't have to be a huge project to make a difference.  On days when you feel like you haven't accomplished much, stop for a minute and look at how many small things you actually did do....they really start to add up.

What service did you provide for your family today?
